The Lola Legacy: Sixty Years of Automotive Innovation
Founded in 1958 by Eric Broadley, Lola Cars International quickly established itself as one of the most respected manufacturers in the sports car industry. Based in Huntingdon, England, the brand has developed a unique philosophy: creating high-performance chassis for various competition categories, from Formula 1 to sports cars and IndyCar.
Lola's history spans several notable eras. In the 1960s , the brand made a name for itself with models like the Mk6 GT, which would later serve as the basis for the famous Ford GT40. The 1970s and 1980s saw the company diversify its production, developing chassis for numerous private Formula 1 teams and achieving numerous successes in sports prototypes.
The 1990s and 2000s marked Lola's heyday, with prestigious victories at Le Mans and a consistent presence in international championships. This period also corresponded to the golden age of the brand's Models, with reproductions becoming increasingly detailed and faithful to the original models.
The anecdote that makes the legend
A fascinating anecdote perfectly illustrates Lola's influence on the automotive industry: in 1963, Henry Ford II visited Eric Broadley's workshops after being impressed by the performance of the Lola Mk6 GT. This meeting would lead to a partnership that would lead to the creation of the legendary Ford GT40, based on Lola's technical innovations.
This collaboration symbolizes the innovative spirit that characterizes Lola: a small British company capable of influencing the giants of the automotive industry thanks to its technical expertise and creativity. This history is reflected today in every Lola Model car , a testament to this rich tradition of innovation and performance.
The name "Lola" itself comes from a popular song of the time, "Whatever Lola Wants" from the musical "Damn Yankees." Eric Broadley chose the name for its catchy and memorable appeal, without imagining that it would become synonymous with excellence in the world of motor racing.
Complete your collection of competition Models
Lola Model cars occupy a special place in the world of Model car collectors. They represent the very essence of pure competition, without commercial compromise, and attract enthusiasts who seek authenticity and technical performance above all else.
These Models blend perfectly with other thematic collections: they ideally complement a collection of Ford Model cars thanks to the historical links between the two brands, or fit naturally into a collection dedicated to racing and competition cars .
Lola's collector audience consists primarily of motorsport enthusiasts who appreciate history and technology. These Models also appeal to collectors who value rarity and authenticity, as many Lola models were produced in limited series, reflecting the limited production of real racing cars.
For fans of the 1960s and 1970s , these Models are a prime example of the golden age of British motor racing. They sit harmoniously alongside models from other iconic manufacturers such as Lotus and McLaren .
The perfect gift idea for enthusiasts
A Lola Model car makes an ideal gift for special occasions. Whether for a birthday, Father's Day, or the holiday season, these Models will appeal directly to motorsport enthusiasts and discerning collectors.

Did You Know? Anecdotes and Curiosities about our Miniatures
What makes the Lola brand so special in the world of motorsport?
Lola Cars was founded in 1958 by Eric Broadley and quickly established itself as one of the most prolific racing car manufacturers. The British brand produced over 5,000 racing cars, competing in all the major championships: Formula 1, IndyCar, Le Mans, and Can-Am. Their approach was unique: they didn't race for themselves, but built chassis for other teams.
Why are Lola T70s so sought after by collectors?
The Lola T70, launched in 1965, is considered one of the most beautiful sports cars ever created. With its fiberglass body designed by Eric Broadley, it dominated the Can-Am and endurance circuits. Only 109 examples were produced between 1965 and 1971, making it a very rare item. It was also the car of choice for legendary drivers like John Surtees and Denny Hulme.
What is the surprising connection between Lola and the famous Ford GT40?
In 1963, Ford approached Eric Broadley to develop a car capable of beating Ferrari at Le Mans. Broadley had already created the Lola Mk6 GT, a rear-mid-engined single-seater. Ford bought the rights to this design and used it as the basis for developing the GT40. Ironically, the first GT40 was essentially a modified Lola before Ford Advanced Vehicles took over the project entirely.
How many wins have Lola cars won in IndyCar?
Lola chassis dominated IndyCar for decades, earning over 100 race wins and six manufacturer championships between 1978 and 2003. Their most successful period was in the 1990s with the T9x series, including the T93/00 and T95/00. Drivers like Al Unser Jr., Bobby Rahal, and Alex Zanardi won championships driving Lolas. The brand even won the Indianapolis 500 four times.
Why did Lola Cars close its doors in 2012 despite its historic success?
Despite 54 years of existence and thousands of victories, Lola Cars went bankrupt in 2012 due to the economic crisis and declining orders. The family business led by Martin Birrane had survived numerous crises, but drastic budget cuts in motorsport and the cancellation of several major projects took their toll on this legendary manufacturer. Today, Lola cars have become highly sought-after collector's items.
