A varied selection for all tastes
My collection of Porsche model cars covers a wide spectrum of the brand's history. You'll find classic models from the 1950s to 1979 , a golden period that saw the birth of the first 911s and the legendary 356s. Fans of modern models will not be left out with the latest generations of Porsches that perpetuate the brand's heritage.
Motorsport enthusiasts will particularly appreciate my selection of Porsche racing cars , including the legendary models from the 24 Hours of Le Mans , where the German brand has distinguished itself on numerous occasions. Formula 1 collectors will also be able to find the Porsche cars that have marked the history of the discipline.
The Porsche heritage: a story of passion and innovation
Ferdinand Porsche founded his company in 1931, but it was after World War II that the brand really took off with the Porsche 356 , the first sports car to bear the family name. This little sports car, born in a garage in Gmünd, Austria, laid the foundations for what would become one of the most respected automotive brands in the world.
The year 1963 marked a decisive turning point with the presentation of the Porsche 911 , designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, grandson of the founder. This iconic silhouette, with its air-cooled flat-six engine mounted on a rear overhang, quickly became the absolute benchmark for sports cars. More than 60 years after its creation, the 911 continues to evolve while retaining its original DNA, a remarkable technical and stylistic feat.
Porsche also excels in motor racing, racking up victories in the world's biggest races. From the 24 Hours of Le Mans to the World Endurance Championship, including rallying with the legendary 911 Carrera RS, the German brand has proven that performance and reliability can go hand in hand.
Porsche Anecdotes and Culture
Did you know that the iconic silhouette of the Porsche 911 almost disappeared in the 1970s? Ferdinand Piëch, then head of development, wanted to replace the 911 with the more modern 928, featuring a water-cooled V8 engine mounted at the front. Fortunately, the 911's continued commercial success and pressure from purists saved this automotive icon.
Another fascinating anecdote concerns the origin of the name "911." Originally named "901," the car had to be renamed because Peugeot owned the rights to all three-digit names with a zero in the middle. Thus, the number "911" was born, which has since become synonymous with automotive excellence and... an emergency number in the United States!
Porsche culture transcends the automotive world. The brand has become a symbol of social success, particularly in the 1980s, when owning a Porsche was a sign of high social status. This cultural dimension is reflected today in Model collections, where each model tells a story and evokes an era.

Did You Know? Anecdotes and Curiosities about our Miniatures
Why has the Porsche 911 retained its distinctive shape since 1963?
Ferdinand Porsche III, the founder's grandson, insisted that the 911's iconic silhouette never be radically altered. This philosophy of evolutionary rather than revolutionary design has allowed the 911 to remain instantly recognizable through the decades, making it one of the most iconic cars in the world.
What is the origin of the name 'Porsche' and why is it not German?
The name Porsche comes from Ferdinand Porsche, who was born in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His surname was originally 'Porsche' in Austrian German. Ironically, the founder of this iconic German brand was not born in Germany but in what is now the Czech Republic.
Why did the first Porsches have their engines in the rear?
Ferdinand Porsche chose this configuration for the Volkswagen Beetle he designed, and he adopted this principle for his own cars. The rear engine allowed for better weight balance, better traction on slippery roads, and freed up space in the front for luggage. This technical feature has become Porsche's signature.
Which Porsche was nicknamed 'the black widow' and why?
The Porsche 930 Turbo of the 1970s and 1980s was nicknamed 'the black widow' due to its unpredictable and dangerous character. Its turbo with a brutal threshold effect, combined with the rear engine, made the car very difficult to control for inexperienced drivers. Numerous accidents marked the history of this model, earning it this sinister reputation.
What is the connection between Porsche and the creation of the Volkswagen Beetle?
Ferdinand Porsche designed the Volkswagen Beetle on behalf of Adolf Hitler in the 1930s as part of the 'Kraft durch Freude' (Strength through Joy) project. Ironically, it was thanks to the royalties collected on each Beetle sold after the war that Porsche was able to finance the development of its own sports cars, thus creating the Porsche empire.
