History of the BERLIET brand

Founded in 1899 by Marius Berliet in Lyon, the BERLIET brand quickly established itself as a pioneer in the French automotive industry. Specializing in commercial and industrial vehicles, the company made a significant contribution to the development of road transport in France. BERLIET trucks supported the country's reconstruction after the two world wars, actively contributing to France's economic growth.

The brand has distinguished itself through its remarkable technical innovations, notably the development of high-performance diesel engines and robust chassis adapted to the most demanding conditions. BERLIET vehicles have equipped numerous trades: freight transport, public works, municipal services, and even the French army.

The Desert Gazelle

One of BERLIET's most glorious pages was written in the Algerian desert with the famous "Gazelle." This all-terrain truck, developed in the 1960s, was nicknamed so for its ability to maneuver nimbly in the Sahara dunes. Used for oil exploitation and supply missions in extreme conditions, the Gazelle has become legendary among desert drivers.

This exceptional vehicle could carry up to 6 tonnes of payload over terrain where no other truck could venture, making BERLIET a respected name well beyond the borders of France.

An exceptional collection

This series of 8 BERLIET trucks is a precious testimony to the French industrial heritage. Perfect for collectors passionate about automotive history or fans of miniature utility vehicles , it also finds its place in collections dedicated to BERLIET model cars . These scale models perpetuate the memory of a brand that shaped the French transport landscape and represent a heritage investment for any enthusiast of French industrial automobiles.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to understand the scales of miniatures?

Scale indicates the reduction ratio between the real car and the miniature. For example, at 1:43 scale, each centimeter on the miniature corresponds to 43 centimeters on the real vehicle.

Concretely, a 1/18 scale Ferrari model is approximately 25-30 cm long, while in 1/43 scale it measures approximately 10 cm.

What scales are available?

Our model cars are mainly offered in 1/43, 1/24, 1/18 and 1/87 (HO) scales. The scale is always indicated in the product sheet.

The smaller the second number, the larger the model car (e.g. 1/18 is larger than 1/43).

Does the model car come with protection?

Yes, each model car is systematically delivered in its protective box. This box preserves the collectible value and protects your model car from dust and shocks.

How is my package protected during transport?

We package each order with the utmost care: bubble wrap, appropriate cushioning, and polystyrene. Your model car is perfectly secure during its journey.

What is the delivery time?

In-stock items are shipped within 24-48 hours. Please allow 2-3 business days for France via Colissimo or 4-5 days via Mondial Relay.

The model car is no longer in stock, when will you have it?

It's impossible for me to know exactly when I'll receive a new stock because I receive arrivals in dribs and drabs. Please contact me so I can keep you informed as soon as it's available.

Having chosen to keep myself informed about a relay point error for my first order demonstrates a willingness to respect the customer, and this remains too rare today not to grant you my trust!.. I have to pick up my second order and I think there will be others... Sincerely. Stéphane BAZILLE.
