This limitation, combined with the excessive fuel consumption (3.5 liters per 100 meters!), considerably reduced its operational flexibility.
History also recalls the tragic episode of the last operational Jagdpanther, destroyed by its own crew on May 2, 1945 near Berlin, rather than allow it to fall into Soviet hands. This symbolic gesture marked the end of a lineage of armored vehicles that embodied German technical excellence in the service of a lost cause.
