The Real Model: A Revolutionary Supercar

Launched in 2001, the Lamborghini Murciélago marked a powerful return for the bull brand in the supercar segment. The first major creation under Audi's era, it combined Lamborghini's stylistic heritage with the most advanced technologies of the time.

Powered by a 6.2-liter V12 engine developing 580 horsepower in its final version, the Murciélago could reach 330 km/h. Its scissor doors and aggressive lines designed by Luc Donckerwolke made it a true automotive manifesto, combining exceptional performance with striking aesthetics.

During its ten years of production, the Murciélago established itself as one of the absolute references in the segment, paving the way for future creations from Sant'Agata Bolognese and solidifying Lamborghini's renaissance.

Lamborghini: The Art of Challenging Ferrari

In the early 2000s, Lamborghini underwent a deep transformation under Audi's leadership. The Murciélago represented a key strategic issue: to prove that the brand could compete with Ferrari while maintaining its unique identity as a rebellious and iconoclastic manufacturer.

Founded in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, the brand had always cultivated this image of a radical alternative to Ferraris, favoring mechanical brutality and stylistic boldness. With the Murciélago, Lamborghini demonstrated its ability to marry this traditional philosophy with modern demands for reliability and refinement, while preserving that wild character that is the essence of each bull from Sant'Agata Bolognese.

A Legend Born in a Garage

The story of the Murciélago is closely linked to that of Valentino Balboni, Lamborghini's legendary test driver for over forty years. He was the one who, behind the wheel of the first prototypes, shaped the unique character of this supercar by tirelessly navigating the winding roads around Sant'Agata Bolognese.

Balboni recalls that the early versions were so powerful and brutal that they required a totally different approach to sporty driving. "This car turns you into a torero," he said, establishing this metaphor between driving the Murciélago and the art of bullfighting that would mark the identity of this model.

A delicious anecdote recounts that during the first press trials, a British journalist literally burst into tears of emotion after his first acceleration in the Murciélago. This reaction, filmed and went viral before its time, greatly contributed to forging the legendary reputation of this Italian supercar, a symbol of an era when automotive emotion still took precedence over pure technology.

The very name "Murciélago" pays tribute to a Spanish fighting bull that survived 28 sword blows during a bullfight in 1879, perfectly embodying the spirit of resistance and power that Lamborghini sought to infuse into its creation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to understand the scales of miniatures?

Scale indicates the reduction ratio between the real car and the miniature. For example, at 1:43 scale, each centimeter on the miniature corresponds to 43 centimeters on the real vehicle.

Concretely, a 1/18 scale Ferrari model is approximately 25-30 cm long, while in 1/43 scale it measures approximately 10 cm.

What scales are available?

Our model cars are mainly offered in 1/43, 1/24, 1/18 and 1/87 (HO) scales. The scale is always indicated in the product sheet.

The smaller the second number, the larger the model car (e.g. 1/18 is larger than 1/43).

Does the model car come with protection?

Yes, each model car is systematically delivered in its protective box. This box preserves the collectible value and protects your model car from dust and shocks.

How is my package protected during transport?

We package each order with the utmost care: bubble wrap, appropriate cushioning, and polystyrene. Your model car is perfectly secure during its journey.

What is the delivery time?

In-stock items are shipped within 24-48 hours. Please allow 2-3 business days for France via Colissimo or 4-5 days via Mondial Relay.

The model car is no longer in stock, when will you have it?

It's impossible for me to know exactly when I'll receive a new stock because I receive arrivals in dribs and drabs. Please contact me so I can keep you informed as soon as it's available.
