The Lancia Delta S4 number 6 that shone at the 1985 RAC Rally of Great Britain comes back to life today in this exceptional miniature. Driven by the Finnish duo Henri Toivonen and Neil Wilson, this war machine wore a white, blue and red tricolour livery that left its mark on the history of world rallying. This faithful reproduction captures the whole essence of a golden era of motorsport.
Much more than a simple decorative object, this miniature is an authentic testimony to a legendary period of Group B, when power and technological innovation constantly pushed the limits of what was possible on British roads.
Launched in 1985, the Lancia Delta S4 represented the technological pinnacle of the Italian brand in the merciless world of Group B. This revolutionary machine combined a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine with both turbocharging and a supercharger, a first in rally history. This double forced induction allowed it to produce more than 500 horsepower in its competition version.
The Delta S4 stood out for its composite body panels, its ultra-rigid tubular chassis and its sophisticated all-wheel-drive transmission. Designed specifically for competition, it shared only its name with the road-going Delta. On the 1985 RAC Rally, this cutting-edge technology faced the winding and unpredictable roads of Great Britain, a stage for memorable exploits.
The S4's success was immediate but short-lived, as Group B regulations were abolished in 1986 following the tragic accidents that marked the discipline. Today, this car remains one of the most iconic symbols of the golden age of world rallying.
In 1985, Lancia dominated the World Rally Championship, backed by expertise built up since the early 1970s. The Italian brand, founded in 1906 by Vincenzo Lancia, had built its reputation on technical innovation and sporting excellence. Following the successes of the Fulvia HF and the legendary Stratos, Lancia sought to maintain its supremacy in the face of growing competition.
The era of the Delta S4 marked the height of the Turin brand's sporting commitment. Lancia's engineers, led by Claudio Lombardi, pushed technological limits with a substantial budget and total creative freedom. This prosperous period continued a tradition of excellence that had already propelled the brand to the top of world motorsport with prestigious victories in Monte Carlo and Finland.
Henri Toivonen perfectly embodied the spirit of Group B: pure talent and boundless boldness. Son of champion Pauli Toivonen, Henri grew up immersed in the world of rallying and very early developed an instinctive approach to driving on loose surfaces. His collaboration with Lancia began in 1983, but it was with the Delta S4 that he revealed the full extent of his genius.
During the 1985 RAC Rally, Toivonen demonstrated exceptional mastery of British roads, alternating between wet tarmac and forest tracks with surgical precision. His technique consisted of adapting his driving style to the specifics of each stage, moving from smooth driving on asphalt to a more direct approach on fast gravel sections.
The Finnish driver developed an almost symbiotic relationship with his Delta S4, exploiting every nuance of the double forced induction to optimise his lines. This bond between man and machine transcended technique to reach an artistic dimension, characteristic of the greatest champions in rally history.
Tragically killed the following year during the Corsica Rally, Toivonen left behind the image of an exceptional driver who forever marked the world of motorsport with his unique style and unwavering determination.
This Delta S4 naturally finds its place within a collection dedicated to rally cars or Lancia models. It blends perfectly with the other legends of Group B, offering an authentic testimony to this revolutionary era of motorsport.
Collectors passionate about 1980s cars will find a central piece here to illustrate the technological innovation of that decade. This miniature also pairs well with other racing cars of the period, creating a cohesive ensemble around the golden age of world rallying.
Whether you are a fan of 1/43rd scale miniatures or a collector specialising in French and European cars, this Delta S4 is a prized piece that will enrich your miniature automotive heritage while preserving the memory of a legendary era of motorsport.

The scale is the reduction ratio between the real car and the model. At 1:43 scale, for example, every centimetre of the model represents 43 centimetres of the real vehicle.
In practice, a 1:18 Ferrari model is about 25–30 cm long, while at 1:43 it measures roughly 10 cm.
Our model cars mainly come in 1:43, 1:24, 1:18 and 1:87 (HO) scale. The scale is always listed on the product page.
The smaller the second number, the bigger the model (e.g. 1:18 is larger than 1:43).
Yes, every model car ships in its protective box. The box preserves its collector value and protects your model from dust and knocks.
We pack every order with great care: bubble wrap, snug padding and polystyrene. Your model car is fully secured on its way to you.
In-stock items ship within 24–48h. Allow 2–3 business days for mainland France with Colissimo, or 4–5 days with Mondial Relay.
