The real model: an exceptional GT3

Launched in 2013, the McLaren 12C GT3 represents the track adaptation of the road-going 12C supercar. Developed by McLaren GT, this competition version was designed to meet the strict requirements of GT3 regulations while retaining the performance DNA of the Woking brand. Its development builds on the expertise gained in Formula 1, transposed into the realm of GT.

The original vehicle is distinguished by its carbon fiber MonoCell chassis, inherited directly from the road model but considerably lightened and reinforced for competition. Its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, restricted according to GT3 regulations, develops around 500 horsepower, allowing exceptional performance on all types of circuits.

This GT3 quickly conquered the starting grids of the largest global championships, establishing itself as a reference in its category. Its commercial success among private teams speaks to its inherent qualities and reliability in competition.

McLaren: the legacy of speed

When creating the 12C GT3 in 2013, McLaren Automotive had been in existence for only three years, but was already relying on the immense legacy of McLaren Racing in Formula 1. Founded by Bruce McLaren in 1963, the team had accumulated considerable technical expertise, notably with its victories at Le Mans and its successes in F1 with legendary drivers like Ayrton Senna and Lewis Hamilton.

This period marked a turning point for McLaren, which transposed its know-how from Formula 1 into supercar production. The ambition was clear: to create vehicles that combine pure performance and technological excellence, capable of competing with Ferrari and Lamborghini on their own turf.

The history of McLaren draws its roots from Bruce McLaren’s passion for motorsport. Since the 1960s, the brand has made its mark on circuits around the world, forging a reputation for innovation and perfectionism. This philosophy endures today, making every McLaren a perfect synthesis of cutting-edge technology and pure emotion.

McLaren Orange: a historic signature

The orange color that adorns this McLaren 12C GT3 is not a mere aesthetic choice, but a true historical legacy dating back to the origins of the brand. This particular shade, officially known as "McLaren Orange" or "Papaya Orange", was adopted by Bruce McLaren in 1968 for his Formula 1 single-seaters and endurance racing sports cars.

Legend has it that Bruce McLaren chose this color after observing the magnificent sunsets of his native New Zealand. More pragmatically, this bright hue also allowed for better visibility on the circuits, a significant advantage in endurance races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where McLaren excelled with its legendary M8 and M20.

This color quickly became McLaren's visual signature, to the point where competitors and spectators would immediately identify British vehicles on the starting grids. Even today, every McLaren road or racing vehicle can be delivered in this iconic shade, perpetuating a tradition over fifty years old.

Remarkably, this orange color has traversed all eras of McLaren, from the early Can-Am cars of the 1960s to today’s supercars, including the winning F1 cars of Ayrton Senna. It represents much more than just a color: it is the very soul of McLaren, a symbol of boldness, performance, and constant technological innovation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to understand the scales of miniatures?

Scale indicates the reduction ratio between the real car and the miniature. For example, at 1:43 scale, each centimeter on the miniature corresponds to 43 centimeters on the real vehicle.

Concretely, a 1/18 scale Ferrari model is approximately 25-30 cm long, while in 1/43 scale it measures approximately 10 cm.

What scales are available?

Our model cars are mainly offered in 1/43, 1/24, 1/18 and 1/87 (HO) scales. The scale is always indicated in the product sheet.

The smaller the second number, the larger the model car (e.g. 1/18 is larger than 1/43).

Does the model car come with protection?

Yes, each model car is systematically delivered in its protective box. This box preserves the collectible value and protects your model car from dust and shocks.

How is my package protected during transport?

We package each order with the utmost care: bubble wrap, appropriate cushioning, and polystyrene. Your model car is perfectly secure during its journey.

What is the delivery time?

In-stock items are shipped within 24-48 hours. Please allow 2-3 business days for France via Colissimo or 4-5 days via Mondial Relay.

The model car is no longer in stock, when will you have it?

It's impossible for me to know exactly when I'll receive a new stock because I receive arrivals in dribs and drabs. Please contact me so I can keep you informed as soon as it's available.
