The original model: a successful first

The SIMCA 6 was launched in 1947 as the first model entirely designed by the young French brand. Based on the Fiat Topolino platform, it boasted a 570cc 4-cylinder engine developing a modest 19 horsepower. This small two-door saloon measured just 3.22 meters in length, making it one of the most compact cars of its time.

Despite its small size, the SIMCA 6 offered a relatively spacious interior for four occupants and a trunk sufficient for the needs of the time. Its bodywork with rounded and harmonious shapes perfectly reflected the automotive aesthetics of the 1950s , a period of renewal after the war years.

Commercial success was achieved with more than 50,000 units produced until 1951. This success allowed SIMCA to establish its emerging reputation on the French automobile market and to prepare the ground for its future, more ambitious models.

SIMCA: the French adventure of a visionary entrepreneur

The Société Industrielle de Mécanique et Carrosserie Automobile was founded in 1934 by Henri Théodore Pigozzi , an Italian-born entrepreneur living in France. From the outset, SIMCA established a partnership with Fiat to assemble Italian models adapted to the French market, particularly in the Nanterre factory.

At the time of the SIMCA 6's launch in 1947, the brand was going through a pivotal period in its history. The Second World War had interrupted production, and Pigozzi now wanted to develop specifically French models while retaining Italian technical expertise. This visionary strategy would make SIMCA one of the most dynamic French car brands of the post-war period.

The company subsequently experienced remarkable growth, producing iconic models such as the Aronde, the 1000 and the 1100, before being bought by Chrysler and then integrated into the PSA group.

A movie car before its time

The SIMCA 6 has a peculiarity that is little known to the general public: it was one of the first French cars to be specifically chosen for film shoots of the time. Its photogenic silhouette and small size made it an ideal vehicle for studio shoots, where space was often limited.

In 1950, the year our blue model was produced, the SIMCA 6 appeared in several French films, notably in productions by Marcel Pagnol, who appreciated its authentically French side. This cinematic exposure greatly contributed to forging SIMCA's brand image among the public, associating the brand with a certain French art de vivre.

An anecdote tells us that Henri Pigozzi himself used a blue SIMCA 6 identical to our model car as his personal car for his travels around Paris. He wanted to set an example by using his own company's products on a daily basis, a cutting-edge marketing strategy for the time.

This practice of the manager using his own products had a lasting influence on SIMCA's corporate culture and partly explains why the brand's employees were so proud of their achievements, considering each car as the result of true teamwork.

Complete your model car collection

This 1950 SIMCA 6 naturally finds its place alongside other iconic models of post-war French automobiles. It harmonizes perfectly with more recent SIMCA model cars such as the Aronde or the 1000, allowing us to trace the stylistic evolution of the brand.

Collectors will particularly appreciate combining it with other model car sedans from the same period, notably the Renault 4CV or Peugeot 203 productions, thus creating a true panorama of popular French automobiles from the 1950s. This prosperous period deserves special attention in any self-respecting collection.

Whether you are a seasoned collector or passionate about automotive history, this model car represents an authentic testimony to an era when French industry shone through its innovation and creativity. It will also appeal to fans of 1/43rd scale model cars with the quality of its finishes and its striking realism, worthy of the greatest thematic collections dedicated to classic cars 1950-1979 .

Frequently Asked Questions

How to understand the scales of miniatures?

Scale indicates the reduction ratio between the real car and the miniature. For example, at 1:43 scale, each centimeter on the miniature corresponds to 43 centimeters on the real vehicle.

Concretely, a 1/18 scale Ferrari model is approximately 25-30 cm long, while in 1/43 scale it measures approximately 10 cm.

What scales are available?

Our model cars are mainly offered in 1/43, 1/24, 1/18 and 1/87 (HO) scales. The scale is always indicated in the product sheet.

The smaller the second number, the larger the model car (e.g. 1/18 is larger than 1/43).

Does the model car come with protection?

Yes, each model car is systematically delivered in its protective box. This box preserves the collectible value and protects your model car from dust and shocks.

How is my package protected during transport?

We package each order with the utmost care: bubble wrap, appropriate cushioning, and polystyrene. Your model car is perfectly secure during its journey.

What is the delivery time?

In-stock items are shipped within 24-48 hours. Please allow 2-3 business days for France via Colissimo or 4-5 days via Mondial Relay.

The model car is no longer in stock, when will you have it?

It's impossible for me to know exactly when I'll receive a new stock because I receive arrivals in dribs and drabs. Please contact me so I can keep you informed as soon as it's available.
