Discover this stunning reproduction of the 1935 Citroën Traction 11A, an iconic model that revolutionized the French automotive industry. This faithful miniature showcases the characteristic black and blue two-tone livery of the era, perfectly capturing the elegance and innovation of this exceptional vehicle.
This collector's piece is a must-have for any enthusiast of French cars and reflects the technical genius of Citroën during the 1930s. A true miniature gem that will naturally find its place in the finest collections.
Launched in 1934, the Citroën Traction Avant represents a true technological revolution in the automotive world. André Citroën and his team of engineers dared to propose a completely innovative concept: front-wheel drive, a monocoque body, and a front-engine layout. This bold architecture gives the vehicle an exceptional handling and unprecedented road behavior for its time.
The 11A version stands out with its 1.9-liter engine producing 56 horsepower, offering remarkable performance by 1935 standards. Its elegant design, crafted by the Italian stylist Flaminio Bertoni, immediately attracts attention with its flowing lines and modernity. The Traction quickly becomes a symbol of the French automotive renaissance and establishes itself as a global technical reference.
Despite its critical and technical success, the Traction Avant represents a colossal investment for Citroën, paradoxically contributing to the financial difficulties of the company. Nevertheless, this revolutionary model lays the foundations for modern automobiles and has a lasting influence on the international automotive industry.
During this crucial decade, Citroën positions itself as the pioneer of automotive innovation in France. André Citroën, inspired by American industrial methods, revolutionizes European automobile production by introducing assembly line work and modern marketing techniques. The French company dares bold technological bets, embodied by the Traction Avant.
This period marks the creative peak of the brand with the chevrons, which multiplies spectacular promotional expeditions such as the Croisières Citroën in Africa and Asia. These adventures reinforce the image of a visionary brand capable of pushing technical and geographical limits. Unfortunately, these considerable investments weaken the company's financial situation, leading to its acquisition by Michelin in 1935.
The Citroën Traction Avant acquires a particular historical dimension during World War II, becoming the emblematic automobile of the French Resistance. Its robustness, reliability, and performance make it the vehicle of choice for the maquis fighters and secret agents. Paradoxically, it is also used by police forces, creating amusing situations where resistants and collaborators drive the same model.
This duality is explained by the Traction's exceptional qualities: its remarkable road handling allows for evasion from checkpoints, while its spacious trunk facilitates the transport of weapons and clandestine materials. Many testimonies from former resistants evoke with emotion their "Traction," a faithful companion in perilous missions.
After the Liberation, this historical association contributes to forging the popular legend of the Traction Avant. It becomes a symbol of a heroic era and embodies French ingenuity in the face of adversity. This historical dimension partly explains the lasting fascination that this model exerts on collectors and automotive history enthusiasts.
In cinema, the Traction Avant quickly becomes the must-have accessory for crime and period films. From "Les Tontons flingueurs" to contemporary productions evoking the 1940s-1950s, it embodies the authenticity and charm of vintage French automobiles.
This 1935 Citroën Traction 11A constitutes a centerpiece for any passionate collector of French automobiles. It fits perfectly into a collection dedicated to Citroën miniature cars, alongside other iconic models from the chevron brand. Enthusiasts of 1930s miniatures will find in this Traction an authentic testimony of French automotive innovation.
This reproduction also harmonizes with thematic collections dedicated to French cars or classic automobiles. It naturally dialogues with other revolutionary models such as the Citroën DS, perpetuating the legacy of innovation of the French brand.
Aimed at discerning collectors and automotive history enthusiasts, this miniature will also charm lovers of fine French mechanics. It represents an intelligent heritage investment, a testimony of a pivotal era in the automotive industry and a symbol of French creative genius in the field of transportation.
