The Fiat Stilo red "Supermarchés Champion" from the 2002 Tour de France serves as an authentic witness to the golden age of advertising vehicles in the Grande Boucle. This faithfully reproduced miniature captures the essence of a time when sponsors heavily invested in fleets of vehicles adorned with their brand colors.
A sought-after collectible, this reproduction evokes memories of millions of viewers passionately following the stages of the Tour de France, where these colorful advertising vehicles preceded the riders along the roads of France.
Launched in 2001, the Fiat Stilo marked the Italian manufacturer's entry into the new millennium with strong European ambitions. This compact hatchback positioned itself as a modern alternative to the German and French benchmarks in the segment, with a design by Giorgetto Giugiaro that was particularly notable.
The Stilo distinguished itself with its taut and dynamic lines, prominent headlights, and characteristic grille. Available in 3-door and 5-door versions, it offered a varied range of engines, from 1.6 and 1.8 gasoline engines to JTD diesels, as well as a sporty Abarth version. Its spacious interior and advanced technological equipment for the time made it an attractive choice for discerning European customers.
Its use by Champion during the 2002 Tour de France demonstrated the confidence that sponsors placed in this Italian model, capable of managing the demanding logistics of the advertising caravan over more than 3000 kilometers of events.
In 2002, Fiat was undergoing a period of complete renewal of its European range. After difficult years in the 90s, the Turin manufacturer was betting on boldly designed models to reclaim European markets. The Stilo was part of this recovery strategy, alongside the revolutionary Multipla and the future Grande Punto.
The diamond-shaped brand, with its century-old heritage since 1899, demonstrated its ability to adapt to contemporary demands. Turin engineers integrated the latest innovations in passive and active safety into the Stilo while retaining the Italian stylistic signature characteristic of Fiat production. This period also marked the intensification of partnerships with General Motors, opening new technological perspectives for the brand.
The year 2002 represented the peak of the Champion brand in France, with over 1000 stores spread across the country. Created in 1969 by the Promodès group, the red and white brand had become a reference in French retail, particularly established in city centers and suburban areas.
The partnership with the Tour de France was part of an ambitious marketing strategy aimed at associating the image of Champion with the values of sport and the French terroir. The advertising caravan, an essential institution of the Grande Boucle since the 1930s, provided exceptional visibility to partner brands, reaching millions of viewers roadside as well as in front of their televisions.
These red Champion Fiat Stilo vehicles traveled the roads of France, distributing goodies and samples to spectators gathered along the course. They contributed to the festive atmosphere unique to the Tour, creating lasting memories for cycling enthusiasts. This prominent presence helped cement Champion's image in the commercial landscape of France at the time.
The gradual disappearance of the Champion brand in favor of Casino in the 2000s now gives these vehicles a particularly nostalgic dimension, witnesses to a bygone era of French retail and its spectacular advertising strategies.
This Fiat Stilo Champion fits perfectly into the world of advertising vehicles and naturally finds its place alongside other iconic models of the Tour de France. It harmoniously dialogues with reproductions of other sponsor vehicles of the Grande Boucle, constituting a coherent testament to this golden age of French cycling.
Passionate collectors of Fiat miniatures will appreciate this particular variant of the Stilo, ideally complementing a collection dedicated to the Italian manufacturer. It also matches other models from the 2000s, a pivotal period in European automotive history. This miniature will appeal to both cycling history enthusiasts and foreign automobile aficionados offering a unique perspective on the links between sport, advertising, and the automotive industry in the early 21st century.

The products match the photographs. They are very well packaged. The delivery is closely monitored by the manager. I recommend this site for collectors.
The scale is the reduction ratio between the real car and the model. At 1:43 scale, for example, every centimetre of the model represents 43 centimetres of the real vehicle.
In practice, a 1:18 Ferrari model is about 25–30 cm long, while at 1:43 it measures roughly 10 cm.
Our model cars mainly come in 1:43, 1:24, 1:18 and 1:87 (HO) scale. The scale is always listed on the product page.
The smaller the second number, the bigger the model (e.g. 1:18 is larger than 1:43).
Yes, every model car ships in its protective box. The box preserves its collector value and protects your model from dust and knocks.
We pack every order with great care: bubble wrap, snug padding and polystyrene. Your model car is fully secured on its way to you.
In-stock items ship within 24–48h. Allow 2–3 business days for mainland France with Colissimo, or 4–5 days with Mondial Relay.
I can't say exactly when new stock will arrive, as it comes in a trickle. Feel free to contact me and I'll let you know as soon as it's available.
