The 2009 Rally Poland Ford Focus RS WRC 09 represents one of the most iconic models of the modern era of the World Rally Championship. This 1:24 scale model perfectly captures the essence of this racing machine, which has marked the history of the WRC with its exceptional performances on Polish roads.
A true collector's item for car and motorsport enthusiasts, this faithful reproduction bears the number 3 that made it famous during this memorable edition of the Polish Rally. It is aimed at demanding collectors who seek authenticity and detail in their rally car model cars.
The Ford Focus RS WRC was developed in 2006 as the successor to the first-generation Focus WRC. This evolution marked Ford's entry into a new era of rallying technology, with a completely redesigned chassis and more aggressive bodywork. The 2009 model year represented the maturity of this project, benefiting from three years of continuous development.
Powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine developing around 300 horsepower, this Focus RS WRC was distinguished by its sophisticated all-wheel drive and suspension tuned to the demands of world rallying. Its remarkable performance allowed it to compete with the best machines of the era, particularly in gravel events such as the Polish Rally.
The success of the Focus RS WRC resulted in numerous world championship victories, cementing Ford's reputation as a major rally manufacturer . Its commercial impact was also significant, inspiring the creation of sporty road-going versions that were a huge hit with the public.
Ford's involvement in rallying dates back to the 1970s with the legendary Escort, which dominated the world championship for nearly a decade. This tradition continued with the Sierra Cosworth in the 1980s, then the Escort Cosworth in the 1990s, before the advent of the Focus WRC in the early 2000s.
In 2009, Ford Motor Company was undergoing a period of major transformation, seeking to rebrand its sporting image through its racing successes. The Focus RS WRC perfectly embodied this strategy, combining technological innovation with sporting heritage. The Ford WRC team, led by Malcolm Wilson, represented one of the most professional programs in the paddock.
This era also marked the height of the collaboration between Ford and its star drivers, creating a perfect synergy between the American manufacturer and European rally specialists. This particular alchemy contributed to the success of the Focus RS WRC on roads around the world, from Finland to Argentina to Poland.
The 2009 Rally Poland will be remembered as one of the most spectacular events of the season. The fast, twisty roads of the Gdansk region provided an ideal playground for the number 3 Focus RS WRC, which was able to fully express its gravel potential.
This particular edition of the Polish rally was marked by changeable weather conditions that turned the event into a real lottery. Drivers had to constantly adapt their driving to the varying grip, going from dusty sections to muddy sections in the space of a few kilometers.
The number 3 Focus RS WRC performed brilliantly in this edition, demonstrating its exceptional versatility and the quality of its development. Polish spectators, particularly passionate about rallying, were treated to a high-flying automotive spectacle, with breathtaking forest passages.
This performance in Poland was part of a particularly competitive 2009 season, where every point counted for the constructors' championship. The consistency and reliability of the Focus RS WRC made the difference against fierce competition, confirming the accuracy of Ford's technical choices for this generation of rally car.
This Ford Focus RS WRC 09 occupies a special place in the world of motorsport model cars. It perfectly represents the technological evolution of modern rallying and fits naturally into any collection dedicated to Ford cars or competition vehicles.
For collectors looking to recreate the epic WRC of the 2000s, this model car complements other iconic models of the era. It pairs perfectly with the Citroën C4 WRC or Peugeot 307 WRC from the same period, offering a complete vision of this golden decade of rallying.
This reproduction is aimed at both experienced collectors and enthusiasts discovering the world of car model cars. Its 1/24th scale allows you to appreciate the details of the bodywork and decoration, while its historical authenticity makes it a privileged witness to the recent history of world rallying. It is also an excellent entry point for exploring collections of vehicles from the 2000s or racing cars .
