The Peugeot 4002 Concept: Futuristic Vision

Introduced in 2003, the Peugeot 4002 embodied the Sochaux-based manufacturer's futuristic vision for the automobile of tomorrow. This revolutionary concept car offered a completely new approach to urban mobility, with its sleek lines and minimalist philosophy.

The vehicle stood out for its innovative architecture , combining lightness and strength through the use of advanced composite materials. Its two-tone black and beige bodywork created a striking contrast, symbolizing the alliance between tradition and modernity.

Although never mass-produced, the 4002 had a lasting influence on the aesthetic codes of future Peugeot creations, particularly in the approach to surfaces and volumes.

Peugeot: Innovation at the Heart of History

In the early 2000s, Peugeot was undergoing a period of intense creative renewal. The lion brand was seeking to reinvent its image after the success of iconic models like the 206 and 307. It was in this context of excitement that the 4002 project was born.

Founded in 1810, Peugeot has a rich tradition of innovation dating back to the earliest days of the automobile. From the first steam-powered cars to the most daring concepts, the brand has continually pushed technological and aesthetic boundaries.

The 4002 fits perfectly into this line of avant-gardism , demonstrating Peugeot's ability to imagine the automobile of tomorrow while preserving its distinctive French identity.

A Captivating Anecdote

The history of the Peugeot 4002 hides a fascinating secret : its very name was a subtle nod to the year of its anticipated design. Peugeot designers imagined that by 4002, humanity would have developed revolutionary means of transportation, and this car represented their vision of that distant era.

But the most surprising anecdote concerns its first public presentation . At the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 4002 was exhibited on a specially designed rotating podium. A technical malfunction caused the podium to spin faster and faster, creating a striking visual effect that literally captivated visitors.

This accidental "breakdown" quickly became the main attraction at the Peugeot stand. Automotive journalists at the time reported that never before had a concept car attracted so much attention, not only for its aesthetic qualities, but also for this now-legendary incident.

Even today, veterans of the Peugeot design office tell this story with amusement, considering that the 4002 had thus revealed its true nature : that of an object in perpetual motion, refusing statism and calling for dynamism.

Complete Your model car Collection

This model car Peugeot 4002 occupies a special place in the collector's world. It represents an essential link between concept car model cars and production Peugeot model cars .

Enthusiasts will appreciate its complementarity with other iconic models from the manufacturer, notably the Peugeot 204, 304 and 404 which illustrate the stylistic evolution of the brand. It also harmonizes perfectly with French model cars from other manufacturers of the same era.

This model car is aimed at both experienced collectors and novices wishing to discover the world of French automotive concepts. It is also an excellent starting point for exploring modern model cars and 1/43rd scale model cars , the absolute reference for demanding collectors.

In addition to a very important selection of various miniatures, the bernardminiatures site is characterized by fast and courteous customer service. I experienced a disappointment during my first order with a damaged package and breakage. The handling of the dispute was immediate and a second shipment followed. You can order with confidence; customer service will always be up to the task. Gilbert.
