History of the Model

The Panhard Dyna X, launched in 1948, represents one of the most daring creations of the post-war French automotive industry. Designed around a 610 cc flat-twin engine, this revolutionary automobile was distinguished by its self-supporting aluminum body and avant-garde design by Louis Bionier. The glazed estate version, particularly popular with families and professionals, offered exceptional cargo space for the time.

This Panhard perfectly embodied the French spirit of innovation of the 1950s , combining fuel economy, spaciousness and modernity. Its production continued until 1954, marking a pivotal era when the French automobile industry was exploring new technological and aesthetic avenues.

Anecdote

The Panhard Dyna X had a surprising feature: its engine developed only 28 horsepower, but its exceptional lightness (less than 700 kg) allowed it to reach 110 km/h while consuming less than 6 liters per 100 kilometers. This technical feat so impressed American engineers that General Motors sent a team to study Panhard's manufacturing secrets!

Legend has it that a Dyna X station wagon owner managed to transport an upright piano in his vehicle by cleverly removing the rear seats and using the large rear window as an access point. This anecdote, true or not, perfectly illustrated the surprising modularity of this revolutionary station wagon.

Collection

This Eligor Panhard Dyna X station wagon is a fine piece for any collector of French automobiles from the Trente Glorieuses. It fits perfectly into a collection dedicated to classic cars from 1950 to 1979 , alongside other iconic models from this period of innovation. Despite the minor flaw in the case, its rarity and Eligor's reproduction quality make it a wise investment to preserve French automotive heritage.
